Alfajor – Spanish cake biscuits
Alfajores are a traditional delight built of two round sweet biscuits splodged together with dulce de leche [milk caramel] or jam and then happily covered with powdered sugar.
The name alfajor ciomes from from Arabic for “fancy” or “great” sweets, and evidently dates from al-Andalus period. Alfajores are common in some rergions of Spain and South America.
