American Belted kingfisher in El Mar Menor
November 20th, 2009 | by nick |It’s amazing the things which turn up: an American Belted kingfisher in the Mar Menor, Murcia. It was probably brought over by storms in the Atlantic. A curiosity I heard today: Mahón, the capital of Menorca, has the second deepest natural harbour in the world - after Pearl Harbour. The harbour is 5 km long and up to 900m wide. Historically, it was one of the most strategically important harbours in the western Mediterranean.
