The Old Stable (various persons).
Email here
The property is over 100 years old and is typical of the local area. The casa is actually the restored stable adjoining the house. It enjoys a separate entrance and driveway and has a complete separate terrace/patio area, which is covered and sheltered from the elements but allows in the sunlight.
It has two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a bunk bed, although there is a sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped with ceramic hob, microwave, oven fridge freezer and washing machine, and of course the all important kettle and toaster. The bathroom has a shower cubicle.
The lounge living room area has a log burning fireplace and there is plenty of wood chopped ready to put in, although the stable does have central heating for the not so energetic.
We are located 15minutes drive from the Aviles-Oviedo airport, to which there are regular flights by low cost airlines.
The house is in a valley of unique beauty, maintaining its cultural and traditional values and agriculture, it is not uncommon to see the farmers 'segar' sything their fields!
Behind the house is Monte Areo. This is an area of local importance as it has many (some still undiscovered) Neolithic sites and dolmens. More here
There are many paths to walk on the top of this 'monte' and has amazing views of all the local coastline. Those of you who are literary may have heard of the local author Clarin, his house is located on the other side of the valley and is clearly seen.
Apart from the obvious walking routes to enjoy (the casa is on one of the feeder routes of the Camino de Santiago) the area is close to the coast and the local fishing village of Candas and Luanco. More here
Both of these have a number of restaurants with an excellent reputation for their seafood and at very reasonable prices. You may also be interested in trying the local cider which is delicious and comes with the spectacle of being poured into your glass from a great height!
There are some lovely beaches Xviares, Xago and Verdicio which are 10-15 mins drive and have the reputation of being good surfing beaches.
Other activities in the area are:
If it is a bit of shopping you want and to pace the streets of a city, then you have the three major cities in Asturias all in easy reach, Gijon , seaside coastal town, Aviles an up and coming cultural town with a great old town section and Oviedo the capital, very elegant.
