Casa del Conde Website1 - Website2 - email This is a 16th century house which has been beautifully restored to meet the needs of rural tourism. The five rooms can be rented as a full rental during the year and individually during the summer. The house was featured on television to promote Extremaduran tourism in Europe. The house is located in the village Santa Cruz de la Sierra set in gorgeous countryside in the heart of Extremadura, near Trujillo and 40 minutes from Monfragüe. It is an ideal base from which to explore all of the monumental cities of Extremadura (Cáceres, Mérida, Trujillo, Guadalupe, etc.) and its Natural Parks (Monfragüe and Cornalvo). It is situated in the beautiful square of the village, set on the slopes of Pico de San Gregorio, surrounded by lush green vegetation of holm oaks and olive trees. This is a great place for birdwatching (see below) and hiking around the hills around the village, and walks through Extremaduran dehesa. The people in the village are very friendly. CHARACTERISTICS Two floors; central heating, five double-rooms with en suite bathrooms, living-room with fireplace, fully-fitted and furnished kitchen with breakfast room and microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, etc. The living room looks onto the square from where you can see the rural atmosphere and children play and has a TV, DVD player and stereo. There is a cosy dining room ideal for after dinner chats and a beautiful patio. SERVICES Pets accepted Cot available, Information on the area Dinner, lunch and breakfast served. The five rooms can be rented individually during the summer and as a full rental for the rest of the year. ACTIVITIES Hiking - Horse riding - Cycling - Cultural visits - Natural Parks BIRDING Up to 180 species of birds are present in the area including Black Vulture, with the largest colony in the world, Griffon Vulture, Black Stork, Egyptian Vulture and Imperial Eagle; Other nesting species include Golden Eagle, Bonelli's Eagle, Peregrine Falcon and Eagle Owl, etc. The plains are a refuge for birds such as Great Bustard, Little Bustard and Lesser Kestrel, etc. Municipal swimming pool - ideal to cool down!
