First volcanic risk map for El Teide (Canaries Ahora) The first risk map of El Teide has been published in the journal Estudios Geológicos , based on reconstruction of recent geological past of the island (last 30,00 years). Areas most at risk are centre and north east, though with a 60-80% possibility that eruption would be 'not very dangerous'. Teide has been at rest since 1909. The study notes that eruptions are not regular, occuring between every 3 and 500 years. The director of the study Juan Carlos Carracedocalls for more funding for detection to avoid alarmism.
